A Fortune 500 multinational healthcare company has distributed R&D teams in different locations globally. In genomic medicine research, large volumes of data are produced by different R&D teams in different locations. However, many of the research requires access to all the data to conduct meaningful research and decision making.

To transfer data from the east coast of the United States to the west cost (over 2500 miles), client purchased 200 EMC syncIQ software licenses at $5,000 per license, plus additional Dell EMC proprietary hardware to distribute the data across the two data centers. Cost was over $1M without considering the cost of hardware. However, the speed required to transfer data for effective collaboration among R&D teams was still not met.

With Ubertal’s High Speed Data Distribution software solution, the client leverages two software licenses on each end of the data center, and two commodity servers. The client is able to achieve data replication at 30-50 TB per day, over a 2500 mile distance. That’s up to 100x faster than Dell EMC software. What’s more is that the cost of the HSDD solution is a fraction of the cost of their previous solution.

The client is very happy with the results and is in the process of deploying our solution software to additional data centers globally.
